RICE, popularized by Intercom, scores each idea on four factors: Reach (how many people it affects per quarter), Impact (0.25 to 3), Confidence (20% to 100%) and Effort (person-months). The score is (Reach × Impact × Confidence) ÷ Effort — higher means build it sooner.
RICE vs ICE — which one should you use?
ICE (Impact × Confidence × Ease, each 1–10) is a faster, coarser cousin of RICE — great for quick triage. Use RICE when you have real reach data; use ICE when you're gut-ranking a long list in minutes.
